Peace, On October 31, 1517, in Germany, an important POST was... er... posted.
On that day, an Augustinian monk and seminary professor named Martin Luther posted a document containing 95 points of debate which he had with the ruling elite of the church. This post was immediately copied, printed, and distributed throughout the region. It was the 16th century version of social media! As a result, a literal upheaval of Western Civilization took place. It may have begun as a religious debate, but the implications of Luther's post encompassed every strata of society. There is a longing in our day to re-examine the times in which we presently live. Who are the ruling elite of the church today? Who holds the authority of interpretation over the truth of the Bible? Could our 'religious' devotion once again, impact every strata of society? We would like to explore these questions and more. We would like to assemble respected leaders and educators to confer with one another. We want to examine the calling of the church today and determine if we are acknowledging the "posts" which God has laid out for us in scripture. Perhaps in our day, we can "nail it" again!
